Sierra Race Walkers are the proud stewards of Mile 21 South on the American River Parkway. Our mile is about half a mile downstream from the Fish Hatchery at Hazel Avenue (near Highway 50).

2011 CLEANUPS

Spring - April 9

Summer - June 18

Mid-Summer - August 13

Fall - Sept 17

Winter - Dec tbd

We will meet at the Nimbus Fish Hatchery at 9am and clean until noon. Dress in light layers so you can adjust as the day warms up. Be sure everything you're wearing can be washed in hot soapy water when you get home. You'll need to bring work gloves and your own drinking water. We will provide the garbage bags. We'll go rain or shine (unless the weather is outright dangerous).

From our first cleanup in 2003 through to the end of 2009, Sierra Race Walkers and friends contributed 380+ hours of effort to pull 3,141+ pounds of trash out of our mile. That's more than A TON! And ours is one of the cleaner miles, can you imagine how much garbage is still out there?

As Mile Stewards, we have committed to provide 20 hours of volunteer labor per quarter (80 hours per year). We need your help!

Please use the Feedback Form if you have any questions.

Take advantage of this opportunity to give something back to the American River Parkway
that we all enjoy so much!
